Raku is a Japanese ceramic firing technique that produces unique and beautiful results. In this taster workshop, you will have the opportunity to learn the basics of Raku firing and create your own beautiful Raku pottery.

During the workshop, you will be introduced to the materials and tools used in Raku pottery, including clay, glazes, and a Raku kiln. You will learn about the different firing techniques used in Raku, such as reduction and oxidation, and how they impact the final product.

Once your pieces are ready, we will fire them in our Raku kiln, giving you the opportunity to witness the unique and exciting process of Raku firing. As the pieces cool, you will see the beautiful colors and textures that result from the firing process.

At the end of the workshop, you will have 2-3 beautiful Raku pottery pieces to take home and enjoy. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced ceramic artist, this workshop is the perfect taster for exploring the fascinating world of Raku pottery.

During the workshop, David, Becci's husband, will provide a delicious homemade roast pork roll (vegetarian option will also be available), drink and dessert.

We can accommodate any dietary restrictions or preferences, so please let us know ahead of time if you have any specific needs.

Come and enjoy the evening sunset within the beautiful setting of Southfields School of Pottery.
